Harriet Strasberg

Harriet is an attorney and has had a private practice in the Olympia area for nearly 40 years. The focus of her work has been to represent public school employees and the Washington Education Association, as well as individual employees in matters related to employment, labor law, campaign finance, public records, and a host of other matters. She is currently winding down her practice and is partially retired.
She is also a community activist and a parent.
After graduating from the University of Michigan, she worked as a community organizer at Massachusetts Fair Share before moving to Washington state in 1979. She has had an interest in housing and homelessness since she worked as an organizer with the Seattle Tenants Union in the early 1980’s, working successfully to pass Just Cause eviction laws in Seattle at that time. She has been familiar with and supported of Panza/ Quixote/ New Horizons Communities since its inception.
In the community, Hariet has been an active member of Temple Beth Hatfiloh, serving on the Board from 2015-19 and participating in both the Homelessness Task Force and the Immigration Task Force from 2019 to the present.
Harriet was also a founding Board Member of Thurston County Volunteer Legal Services, now Sound Legal Aid, an organization that provides pro bono legal advice in civil matters to low-income persons. She was a member of that Board for 20 years, from 1994 to 2014.
Harriet loves hiking and biking and getting out in nature to lift her spirits. Harriet also loves good stories, time with her family and friends, and her community.
